Today I got the privilege of hearing Deborah Ross speak in the Free Speech on Campus series. Deborah Ross is one of the most prominent female leaders in North Carolina. She is an American lawyer and politician. Deborah Ross was a member of the North Carolina General Assembly. Today she spoke to us about some of her experiences working with the Civil Rights Union. She talked about a case where a student did not wear a uniform to a public school, because of his religious beliefs. The principal suspended the child, but that broke his first amendment rights. Deborah Ross helped sue the principal, and ended up winning the case. It was a pleasure to get to hear Deborah Ross speak.
