The Supreme Court is the highest tribunal in the Nation. All of its cases are controversies that deal with the Constitution or the laws of the United States. The Supreme Court is in charge of making sure the American people have equal justice. The Supreme Court consist of the Chief Justice of the United States and seven other justices chosen by Congress. The number of justices is currently at eight, but is subjected to change.There has been a high of ten, and a low of five. The power to nominate a justice to the Supreme Court is given to the President of the United states. Appointment to the Supreme court is done by the Senate. The Court has the right to choice what cases it would like tot take. The Court has jurisdiction is the legal ability to hear a case. The court does not have to hear a case. The Supreme Courts best known power is Judicial Review which was created in the case of Marbury v. Madison. This is the courts ability to declare a Legislative or Executive act in violation of the constitution, even if it is not found within the actual text of the Constitution.
